So the 411

That wank turned out to be a lot shorter than I expected it to - and honestly, I didn't expect 6A to back down on it, since they went about it in such a whirling clusterfuck of a way.

More on this later. Suffice it to say that I am back, I am not inclined to trust LJ with my original fic, which probably means that I should back up all my LJs this weekend and delete them, given that, you know, I write about incest and heroin and homosexuality. Obviously I'm a rapist.

However, there are more important things at the moment, such as MCR B-Sides. For [livejournal.com profile] apiphile, who facilitates me. I have dreamt about them for the last three freakin' nights, people.

These files are sendspace. There MAY be a problem for international users - however, that's a rumour that I haven't been able to confirm on their website. Their FAQ does not indicate that you can't download if you have an international ISP, and their ad tag does say "anywhere in the world", so I'm assuming for the moment that you are going to be able to dl these. If not, let me know, and I'll make a box.net account, which, for some reason, I can't make on a Mac, apparently.

Heaven Help Us
Kill All Your Friends
My Way Home Is Through You

I'm still trying to get the "Nightlife in Europe (My Chemical Romance XTC Mix)" from iTunes, but so far it's barfing on dling.

If you can play .m4v format (I can, in iTunes, but I have no idea what it is or what players support it) I have some videos, for This Mirror's Not Big Enough For The Both Of Us, Famous Last Words, and Vampires Will Never Hurt You, as well as an mpg interview from Much Music that is extraordinarily cute in parts that I can upload on Monday, but I'm not uploading them if you can't play the format. They're enormous - the Much Music interview is over 100 MB and the others are in the 60-70 MB range.

ETA: Oh my god. Homicide: Life on the Streets, complete series...less than a hundred dollars. Or 46% off.

I has a money. I knows what I do wif it now.

I didn't really listen to them before this... but I think you've converted me. (I like their angry songs best.)

Fortunately for both of us, they've mostly only got angry songs. Or rather, songs that I would characterise as being like running around in a field of flowers with a butcher knife - they're poppy and all that, rather than dirgy, but the lyrics are fucked up.

I can upload more if you want, believe me! As I'm sure you've slightly gathered, I adore them, so I'm glad to share them with others.

A while back you mentioned something about m4a's and how to get them to play, but I forgot where...

But I would be happy to have more. Especially the angry songs!

So far I've got The Sharpest Lives, Vampires Will Never Hurt You, This Is The Best Day Ever, My Way Home Is Through You, To The End. I also have Kill All Your Friends and Heaven Help Us, but I can't play 'em currently. :\

If you're not using iTunes 7.0, you should be. I like that program a lot, much more than .wmp or any of the other players, and I know it handles .m4a. Anything that I have that's m4a, I can convert - EXCEPT for Kill All Your Friends and Heaven Help Us, as I bought them off iTunes' store and they're protected. I'm going to see if I can burn them to a cd this week, and if I can, I can send you a cd of...um, well, random stuff.

But until then! Either today or Thursday, I'll upload Bullets, Murder Scene, Revenge, and Parade - it's easier, honestly, to do full albums than to do individual songs. What sort of dearchiving program do you use? I've only been able to find Stuffit for this computer, which means that the files come out .sitx, which MIGHT not be a file that can be dearchived by a Windows computer. I can look around for something else, if you can't handle a .sitx file.

I don't use iTunes because I tend to sneak my mp3's and mp4's from the Internet using Limewire. (It's not illegal if I don't distribute them.) I also use Winamp, because it's the only program that both .mp4 files and .ogg files work on.

I've never had anyone offer to send me a CD from the Internet, though... usually I get massive g-mails ("email-1: songs 1, 2, 3" "e-mail-2: songs 4, 5, 6") so I'm flattered!

As for archieving programs, I usually use .rar files and unzip them with WinRAR. (I was supposed to delete it from my computer if I didn't buy it, but I haven't yet. And if it stops working, I'll find a new/different archieving program.)

I agree, whole albums are MUCH easier to do than a few select songs. Unfortunately, I still use dial up. The bigger a file size is, the longer it takes to download, especially if I have to download it in go.* But one song at a time tends to work for me...

*I have a program that allows me to download things and then pause them or stop them, but most websites don't allow you to resume the downloads... so it's fallen out of use.

Hm. Well, I just bought a hundred blank cds, which I will never use all of in my lifetime (but they were only two bucks more than the fifty pack) so shoot me your address to steppin_razor3 AT yahoo.com and I'll just mail them to you - it sounds like it would be a lot easier, as I'm not actually sure that WinRAR will dearchive sitx and I have a hella fast computer here. Also, with the download thing.

So does iTunes not play illegally-ganked music? I hadn't noticed that, but then everything I've illegally dled is on another computer which uses winamp. I should look - I think iTunes is still on that computer, as it was the one I had access to when I got my iPod.

I don't think it does... it also doesn't seem to play mp4's. Also, for kicks, I just tried to play the m4a of "Heaven Help Us," and it told me my computer wasn't authorized to play it... I haven't used iTunes before this, and it was your e-mail address that popped up, so I exited out of it.

Okay, that was because it was a dl, presumably. However, I was able to burn it (not convert it, obviously) so we'll see if it plays when you get the disks.
