It would probably be too much like work to set up a dummy copy of my LJ, with a Last.fm, a del.icio.us, and a Twitter account linked in as well so that I have something I can actually show prospective employers.

On the other hand, if I want to, basically, blog for cash, I probably should do it.

EDIT: You know, I don't think much of LJ's stats. Telling me I haven't made an entry in the journal I have decided to use for this project is pretty fucking stupid, considering that I HAVE made an entry. But then again, it also tells me when I log in as [livejournal.com profile] swords_at_dawn that I haven't updated my profile, which of course I have done.

So I guess I'm gonna go ahead with this plan, because I wasn't using a ghost in the snow for anything else. And an arts/music/essay blog sounds like a GREAT plan.

I will even Twit.

I'm sure I could google it, but what is a Last.fm?

[identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com 2008-10-28 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Internet social radioplay. Seriously. I don't know what it is myself, except that it plays music and keeps track of your music, and you can run a thingy that auto-scrobbles your songs from your iPod/iTunes (scrobbling is transcribing the list of what you've listened to). It keeps track of lots of totally useless stats (for example, I have listened to MCR 2464 times by now) and it's got that social-networking side going on; it recommends artists to you based on what you tell it, and there are radio stations you can access that play music in the same vein - so if you select The Academy Is... radio, you'll get Fall Out Boy, Panic (!) at the Spambot, Jasey Rae, Sherwood, We The Kings, for example. It's not totally brilliant - I thought it scrobbled the entire contents of my iTunes when I ran their app, but it turns out probably not because I had to add stuff it was recommending to me so that it would go away.

Check it out. It's www.last.fm, I'm under this username.

Ah, cool, thanks. Not really my thing, but interesting none the less. You are such a geek/goddess

[identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com 2008-10-28 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It comes of being single and having no pets. *g* I am such a goddamn style yo-yo, it's not even funny. And I should be at the age where I'm shouting "You kids get off my lawn!" rather than running around trying to BE those kids.

Actually, Last is just telling me something I was already figuring out since I apped at Amazon: I'm a really big music geek. I just tend to not think I am in comparison to [livejournal.com profile] spamcola and [livejournal.com profile] graeae, who redefine music-geekhood, but compared to most people I know, I'm a big goddamn music geek.

Get a dog... you know you want one. Perhaps smaller than your parents though.

Never grow up, it sucks.

I'm much more happy to have the cool kids like you just tell me what I should listen too. :)

Your icon...

It certainly draws one's attention.

[identity profile] jkivela.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll take that as a compliment. :)

Good, it was meant as one. ;]

Tsk tsk. Get up on the lingo, you old bag.

It's "tweet"

[identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com 2008-10-28 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I am aware that it is technically "tweet"ing.

However, I feel that it will make me look like a twit, and also, scene kids never worry about people who don't understand their lingo, so I prefer to call it "twit"ting. Mai emo redefinishuns, let me show you them!

The other side of that, of course, is that someone, somewhere, consciously rejected calling the activity "twitting" because people would not be quite so pleased.

You'll have to forgive me, as I am, if you hadn't guessed, the least-scene person in the world.

[identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com 2008-10-28 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
What's scary is that I'm totally scene, even when I don't mean to be. I inadvertently got a scene haircut the other day because I like how my hair looks when it's not brushed. I may need to kill myself. I'm thirty two, for fuck's sake, not fifteen.

And, oh, right, that whole thing was a comment elsewhere! I found a wikihow guide to being scene that made me FALL OVER LAUGHING. It was SO BAD. It was all like "do all this stuff exactly like this or everyone will call you a poser!" and followed it up with "don't be afraid to be an individual! Scene kids make their own rules!" I really should post that here, because frankly, the wiki was hilarious.

i love to make fun of scene kids. O:-)

but i'm pretty sure they make fnu of me too, so it's all okay.

Ooh, New Pornographers - do you know Destroyer? It's the same guy, whose name I cannot remember at all. I have lots, if you want it. No idea how similar it sounds because I was going through the Blue Mountains when NPR did a piece on him, focused on Destroyer, and I had to have it all.

[identity profile] purplemoocow.livejournal.com 2008-10-28 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know Destroyer. I'm not sure how I feel about The New Pornographers; I like some of their stuff, but some of it is outside my musical tastes.

See how I listen to more "scene" music every now and then to cover up all the Britney Spears?

[identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
That's okay. I'm listening to show tunes, and later I'll listen to some Britney.

I don't know how I feel about Destroyer, either. *g* I feel, actually, much the same way you do about the New Pornographers.
