(no subject)

I bought legwarmers because I like 80's retro, because American Apparel is making them and they're fairly cheap (also, I ♥ AA for being the sort of business we need more of), and because they're semi-scene and I am nothing if not a scenewhore.

This of course explains why I have worn them every damn day for the last week and a half.

No, wait! The white shit falling out of the sky explains that!

So I'm off to do some holiday shopping, Metro willing. Basically, Metro's on the radio right now saying "If you live in West Seattle, don't make any fucking plans."

Also, you know what? I really like my body. I thought I'd just throw that out there. It's rare for me to like my body, and today I do. It's not a bad one, even if there are a couple things I'd change. Even though my back is fucking killing me, which means more stretching, more situps, more yoga.

Okay. Having made no fucking plans, I'm gonna go prop up the economy. I wish I could find my headphones, but that's life.

Hey!

There's nothing wrong with legwarmers. I still have a pair somewhere that my sister crocheted for me back in the 80s. They were awesome!

I love them too! I was actually looking for some a few years back (way ahead of my usual trend of "three months before everyone and their dog has them) and by "a few" I mean "about ten" but whatever, and I couldn't FIND them, so I'm super happy that they're in fashion now. I mean, that was back before my parents had internet access, and I never even thought about buying them online, and now I can just walk into a store and get them. If I had a job, I'd have gotten more pairs, but one is enough for right now.

I'd had one or two store-bought pairs back in the 80s, but then my sister, who loves to crochet anyway, got it in her head that they'd be easy to make. And she'd done several sets. She and her best friend. The ones I still have are the pair she made me, but the weather in South Texas fluctuates so damned much and isn't often very cold that I never think to wear them. I need to pull them out though and if I get accepted next year to a grad school in the north, I'll definitely wear them!

Legwarmers are awesome. Not only are they scene (or so you tell me *cough* Wot is scene, anyway?), but they're very useful to keep the snow out of your boots where it belongs. *nods*

Srly, they saved my feet from freezing in high school. Someone in the school administration thought it'd be a good idea to allow us to wear pants (rather than the pleated uniform skirt) only from December to March. No matter that we have freezing winds and snow from late October to mid-April. /reminisces

I forgot to say "YAY!" for liking your body. *hugs* It makes for a good day. :D

Yes! It was a moment of yay indeed!

Also, I heart your icon. Is it stealable?

Sorry it took so long to reply; I was away from home for the weekend and not comfortable signing into LJ at my family's...

Thanks! And yes, it's stealable. Just credit [livejournal.com profile] chosenxone.

OMG, I get to share my favourite link ever!! Seriously, this is so bad. So not right. So horrible. So, so, so bad. But I love that it exists. Anyway. This is how to be a scene girl; scene, in this case, refers to the Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance bands + My Chemical Romance, primarily. I know there are other bands on other labels in there, but it seems like most of them are FBR. And for the love of god, don't call a scene girl an emo or she will cut you - even though no one else, not even me, can figure out the damn difference.

Or, here's a pic, of Jac Vanek, who I kind of want to punch for no reason.

ANYWAY. Yes! I agree muchly about leg warmers! I cannot believe that anyone, let alone a school administration would be that clueless about weather, frankly, but I do know that leg warmers let me wear skirts (I live in skirts now and have for a couple years, it is Totally Ridiculous) in our six inches of snow and subzero temps without dying, which is nice. *g*

I thought about replying with all the things that are wrong with it, but then I thought fuck that. So yes, it is a nice one indeed, by and large. *g*

I'm entitled to my own informed opinion, right? ;)

[identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com 2008-12-21 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I suppose. *g* Since you're one of the few people on my flist at the moment to have actually seen me, I'll allow it.

I'm still miffed that I lost the one picture I had of you too.

See my new post

and again...it's all your fault. :P

All your consumerism is my fault? Do I need to post links to, like, food or something? *g*
