HELP HELP HELP THIS STUPID STORY IS WRITING ITSELF I AM NOT INVOLVED IN THIS I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN TAKEN PRISONER IN MY OWN BODY AND THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT STOP IS TO ACTUALLY PUT THE FUCKING THING ON PAPER BECAUSE OTHERWISE MY BRAIN WILL KEEP WRITING IT AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S ABOUT OH GOD WHAT A CLUSTERFUCK.

IT MIGHT BE ABOUT A CIRCUS I DON'T EVEN KNOW EXCEPT EVERYTHING I WANT TO WRITE RIGHT NOW IS ABOUT CIRCUSES SO THERE YOU GO ALSO I AM SO NOT HAPPY WITH THIS DEVELOPMENT FUCK FUCK FUCK I AM A HOSTAGE TO MY HANDS AND BRAIN I BLAME EVERYONE I KNOW FOR THIS YOU ARE ALL FIRED.

Crap, now we're both screwed.

I am torn on who should be Peter Lawford. Part of me wants Bob to be Peter, but part of me is also aware that if I was Gerard's mother, I would have dressed him up like a pretty, pretty girl till age eleven too. Let's face it, I would do that NOW.

Do you even think Gerard would stop you? For some reason in my head it's funnier if you put Mikey in a dress. I think it's his :| face.

Hey, he might; he is a Real Boy now that he's all married and his wife is expecting, after all.

Further thinkings are needed. Also, I am conflicted about Sammy Davis Jr. Part of me is thinking THAT should be Bob - you know, he's not from Jersey, after all, but I also don't really think it was very awesome that Davis was pretty much in the Rat Pack so that Sinatra and Martin had someone to make fun of for being a POC and a Jew. And then my brain points out that the purpose of an AU isn't to slavishly copy the original material.

So my thoughts:
Bob is Sammy, the butt of many jokes for not being from Jersey.
Mikey is Peter, who was dressed as a girl until he was eleven, maybe.
Gerard is Frank because of course he is Large and In Charge.
Frankie is Dean. Trust me on this.
Which makes Ray Joey, which seems reasonable.

I mean, not that this needs to be slavishly copied, but so there's a sense of who's who in terms of "Well, Bob is now automatically the comic relief because he isn't from Jersey and Gee is of course the wheeler-dealer with the REALLY sketchy associations." Or am I just demonstrating that I don't know how in the hell one writes fic? Cause believe me, I've got a couple pages on my hard drive that demonstrate I already know THAT.

I know NOTHING about the Rat Pack so that's already better than ... yeah. Ooooh. I DON'T KNOW HOW ONE WRITES FIC EITHER, I just ... do it.

Really I think what's probably important apart from knowing anything about 1950s Vegas is, uh, getting a minor handle on their voices/idiom.

Yes, tell me about that. I realised several hours ago that my characters sound like shit (in three lines of dialogue total) because I can only write ONE VOICE.

If this is really a serious plan, I'll look into the availability of Ocean's Eleven and see what's on YouTube. I have no clue how they talked, but I'm pretty sure that what I'm thinking (very Maltese Falcon Sam Spade) is wrong.

... Uh, I do that. So far no one has noticed. :0

There's not really anything on Lawford and Bishop. I don't know if Ocean's Eleven is worth looking at - again, it's scripted, and I'm not sure if you're aiming for scripted or un here.
