(no subject)

I have: a lot of carrots.

I have: no fucking clue what to do with them.

I am going to: experiment.

My hoped-for outcome: that no one dies and nothing is obliterated by fire.

In other news: iTunes is being an assy bitch, possibly in conjunction with Last.fm, and I hate them both. Also, I am seized with the desire to move, as far away as I can, and I don't know why, nor what I would do when I got there, but it seems like an odd option, given that I resisted moving to New York when I was laid off.

Or maybe that was just my spider-senses, saying "HAHAHAHA THE ECONOMY IS ABOUT TO SUCK, ASSHAT, STAY HERE."

I have no other reason why I would even think that moving to New York NOW might be, you know, sort of AWESOME.

when ordinary humans experiment with carrots, they end up with embarrassing abrasions.

when you experiment with carrots, people burst into flames and die.

why aren't i surprised?

I have permanently destroyed more than one cooking utensil because I do something really REALLY smart like "put some oil on to heat gently" then turn away, completely forget that the oil is there, heating, and engage in some VERY long task like "peel two pounds of potatoes," only remembering the oil when I hear the gentle whoosh of flame erupting from a pot.

This is why I never buy nice pots. There is no point.

YOU HAVE AN iBROW ICON TOO OMG WHERE DID MINE GO?

we used to have nice pots. once upon a time.

I don't know, but you should take it back if it is gone forever!

My brother has nice pots - like, really nice pots - but my mother claims this is because he cooks over an open propane fire for much of the year and ordinary stock pots won't stand up to this sort of abuse for very long, so I guess it makes sense. I do not have the cooking genes in my family.

ah, there it is! it had been usurped by something to do with... uh... jazz hands.

my brother has really nice pots, too. he has really nice pots because he BUYS A NEW GODDAMN POT whenever the old one gets dirty. words cannot express.

Yay! Another iBrow!

That is so pointlessly wasteful that it makes me want to gag.

[identity profile] alasandalack.livejournal.com 2008-12-11 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
oh, but there is a point! the point being that he has money! and he can spend it on whatever he wants! ALL THE GODDAMN TIME!

it isn't even OCD. geez.

See, I know I'm a crazy consumer sometimes, but just to keep having nice versions of the same thing over and over? What? Yeah, that's just senseless. Because the point of having money shouldn't be "I will demonstrate it by buying LOTS OF SHIT."

New York

I, for one, would love to see you move to within driving distance. I'm about a 4.5 hour drive from NYC... but let's face it, nobody lives IN NYC without roommates or a ludicrously well-paying job, so you might even be closer.

Yeah, that's kind of the scary part. I don't want to live with anyone, but I don't want to live in Jersey, either (not that Jersey is cheap, I guess it has the highest cost of living in the country) but maybe it's worth looking in to for a job, at least for a while.

The next time I come out there, I swear to god, we will meet if I have to charter a plane.

Carrot ginger soup with cumin. :)

[identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com 2008-12-11 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
I found that! It sounds good, but I have no ginger, and I'm trying to force myself to get this stupid book done which means no leaving. However, it's also 8 pm, and I haven't done anything yet, so I'll try to do that tomorrow.

It makes it kind of hard when you really, really dislike carrot cake/carrot bread to figure out what to do.
