You know what?

I know what, anyway.

If the [livejournal.com profile] bandomsecrets post that I thought was about me was, in fact, about me, then either the person I thought did it didn't actually do it (which opens the field, whee!) or else that person has a big, hefty serving of hypocrisy coming to them.

I have to quit shopping in the men's department at Target, but if I had done that, I would not now have an Autobots tshirt, so there's always a reason not to. I also finally cracked and bought a coffee maker (we'll see if I can learn to make coffee now) and a new toaster, which is shiny steel red and is the first appliance ever to make me want to name it, simply because, well, it is shiny red steel.

I have been named an emergency contact in case anything weird, unusual, or embarrassing happens to a friend's housesitting sister. Apparently, I can't solve flooded basements, but I kick ass when ninjas show up in your home. Though apparently, if it's ninjas, I'm supposed to bring someone else with me, who is also quite competent at ninja-butt-kicking. The qualification was that my friend felt that if something really weird happened, I would be able to have an axe in hand and be there within fifteen minutes. I feel like this is an achievement that I would like immortalised on a medal, because it makes me giggle, and then I could wear that medal proudly.

"Armed and Ready To Fight Off The Weird", or something.

Beyond that? Weekend off, people. Halle-fucking-lujah.

I'd list you as one of my friends that should be called in case of ninjas or general weirdness. Pity you aren't close enough for being an emergency contact for me. ;)

First thing I though of when reading that T-shirt saying is "That's what Buffy should wear." Though hers would be pink and a baby T. I think you'd have another style.

Hey, I can totally rock pink baby Ts.

What is scary is that I actually do. For some reason, I've taken up shopping in the junior department when I'm not shopping in the men's. I shouldn't fit into junior shirts. Scary!

Glad your vacation was awesome, by the way - suck that the world said "Here! Have some shitty weather!" to WI on your return.

Eh, it's been saying that to WI for the last 4 months...

thus the Plan(tm) to move to a warmer local.

You need to get on that!

Coffee's Easy

1) Put a coffee filter in. (I only mention this because I have seen plenty of people skip this step.)

2) For an average brew: For each cup of water (this is the measurement cup, not the elusive "mug" which typically ranges between 1.5-2 cups), use one tablespoon of coffee grounds. I tend to add .5 cup water extra to account for the water lost to steam while brewing. If the carafe has measurements written on it as most do, those will be in proper cups and you can use it to measure the water instead of needing a measuring cup.

3) If your coffee maker comes with an option to determine how light or dark you want the brew, just put it on dark. If you want to adjust it in the future, just adjust the water-to-coffee ratio for lighter or darker coffee instead of using that waste of space option on the machine. You'll be able to hone in on your favorite water-to-coffee ratio over time.

4) Put the water in the water section and the coffee grounds in the coffee section and turn the machine on. (Again, one of those duh steps that requires stating.)

I have steps 1 and 4 down completely, and step 3 seems to not be relevant to my machine, but step 2 is the one that I fail hard on, so thank you! One tablespoon to one cup - maybe I can remember this?

If not, a lot of crap coffee will remind me, right?

If you happen to come across it, I recommend purchasing a long-handled coffee scoop like this one. I found one by chance at Starbucks and have fallen in love with it. The long handle means not getting your knuckles covered in coffee when you get it out of a thin bag.

Just note that if you get one like this it's a 2-Tbsp scoop, instead of just 1-Tbsp, so it's good for every two cups of water. I actually like this better because I almost always make an even numbered cups of coffee + that .5c water at the end.

I sort of looked for something like that at Target but couldn't find it. However, I bet they sell those in Starbucks and it's not like I can throw a rock and not hit one of those around here.

Also, coffee successfully made!

Thanks!
