I think I'm going to sue the government. I, of course, don't qualify for discounts for dental care (any more than I do for medical care), but I have at least one broken tooth (possibly two, unless I somehow had the world's longest-lasting piece of organic matter stuck between my teeth, as in, it was there for several months, no matter what I did), and, at a rough guess, five cavities, two of which I've visually confirmed.

That's what I can feel and see. God knows what the rest of it looks like.

But it would be $160 to get a checkup to tell me things I already know and figure out a treatment plan (rip out my teeth and start over with plates would probably be the best idea), and the first person to think that I have a spare $160 laying around can kiss my ass.

So my options seem to be:
1) Quit my job entirely and go on Medicaid/unemployment. (Except that I won't qualify for unemployment for another four months)
2) Get married to some lowlife scum who doesn't have a job.
3) Have a baby or five so that I have dependents.
4) Let my teeth rot out of my head until such time as I have dental care, which may be May, and may be never, and hope that I can afford the out of pocket at that time.
5) Get a pair of pliers and pull them all out, then demand to get plates.
6) Sue the government for failing to provide health insurance to its citizens, in light of the fact that the economy is NOT RECOVERING, and in fact sucks so badly that I will not likely have a job in February.
6-sub-a) Sue the government, in addition, for dental care based on the fact that one of the things they're considering with the new tax bill is the removal of employer tax breaks for providing health insurance to their workers.
7) Move to a country that provides such things and do what I have to to get it.
8) Kill myself before my teeth can rot any faster.

Oh, and new glasses would be nice too, but that's a modest four hundred dollars or so. I think I'm going to have to hope to fuck that I don't wind up working every day in December and look for a weekend part time job so that I can at least start saving some money for this stuff.

Because god knows no one's going to do it for me.

Well, so far as the glasses go, there's a place by work that has pairs for $40, provided you have a prescription.

Are there any dental schools in your area? Give 'em a call. Chances are they will handle your care at a fraction of the cost. (Of course, you have to let students experiment on you... but then students can't be much worse than the maniacs I've had working on MY teeth!)

Give it a look-see. You never know!

sue the government.

and then move to somewhere else (australia or canada would be my picks, unless you like hobbits - then go NZ)

I ordered glasses for 250 pounds sterling which I don't have. I will have to start borrowing money off Zbigniew since those 250 were the rent for December.

However, the glasses I have now are old and I cannot see with them anymore.
