I, on a whim and the ever-infamous advice of [livejournal.com profile] srichard joined the Sorting Cat Birthday Drabbleathon over at [livejournal.com profile] mctabby's journal. My challenge was for [livejournal.com profile] webbapettigrew, "That which does not kill me makes me stronger, Dumbledore's POV."

Having posted it there (and am about to run off and read my drabble) I post it here.

Word count: 102 (ouch, I couldn't get it shorter.)
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Implied violence, implied character deaths

“You have survived this far,” I said. “Can you question my actions? Would you have done what was needful, if you had known I was forging a weapon?”

“And after you wield me?” His poison eyes held a look I had seen there before, familiar from another of my battered swords.

“There is room in life for swords.” There is, indeed, but it is often the breaking of the sword that makes the peace.

The first was destroyed unquestioningly, in green and prophecy. The reasons were understood.

“I loved him,” he said at breaking the next.

Swords and trust cut both ways.

That was quite fun, although I couldn't, at least at this point, take up the 15 minute drabble idea. My brain works far too slowly on coming up with a good idea. I sat on the idea overnight, and then it took me about an hour on the bus to really bang it out and get it down to the limit.

Grommet Update: Cass is a stupid twit who did not realise that the grommet punch she has is the right size and works like a dream. Consequently, I have wonky holes all over my bodice - except for the last 15 (of 46) which may be wonky but will be less wonky because I will use the damn punch.

Tonight, I set grommets. Moohoohahaha!
