Joining the ranks of Fight Club and Twist as movies I think should be seen to understand our current cultural condition is The Boondock Saints.

FC and TBS at least get their analyses wildly wrong and are personally offensive to me on at least one level (FC is the whole cult of masculinity, which just gives me more reason to hate men, and TBS is the whole religion thing, killing for God, which gives me another reason to hate religion) and I suspect that Twist only survives by having junkie whores in. But I still advocate these three movies as truly being a test of watching - if you can see where they go wrong in the dogma they preach, you can see what they've said that's right, and what we've done that's right and wrong.

They are none of them flawless movies, they are dark to the point of appalling, and they are extraordinarily pretentious on one level, yet they have much to say, much of it wrong, but some of it worth hearing.

And now I shall go to bed and dream of naked Irishmen with guns.

I really, really want Aeternitas and Veritas tattoos on my hands.

EDIT: I will stomp my email tomorrow after doing the job apps I didn't do today. Anyone who is expecting an email probably should never expect one, but I'll send you one.

H&K P5 OF EDIT: I also want to know what the fuck the tattoos on Connor and Murphy's necks in TBS were.

BAGMAN OF EDIT: I have three heroin related icons now. I fear MYSELF.

Yeah. So that job at Wizards of the Coast that I decided I was going to turn down because I'd need a car to get there, I'd need another job as well, and I wouldn't have that much scheduling flexibility to actually get another job in something other than retail because I'd have to keep my weekends open, and that I'd have to make a three to six month commitment to?

Yeah. That job. The one that I actually got selected as a candidate for and was sort of mopey about it because I couldn't take it for those reasons, and yet I'd REALLY like to work for Wizards?

The one that I am - OH HOLY SHIT NOT AT ALL SURE I'D ACTUALLY GET HIRED FOR LO THEY SPOKE THE DREAD WORDS "CHECK ON SOMEONE FROM ANOTHER DEPARTMENT WHO MIGHT APPLY" - not at all sure I'd get anyway?

The one that's temp?

...pays more weekly at 24 hours a week than I make now at 40.

*breathes*

*breathes*

They still don't know the salary exactly, but the range is good.

And...if it's only 24 hrs a week at the slow periods, that gives me four days to write.

So. Yeah. I think I shall announce that I am in fact still a candidate for that. And I am SO GLAD that I got afraid to call and say "Yeah, you know, this sounds good, but not enough money."

The sucky part is no computer access except at lunch, but I'll survive. And possibly Magic: the Gathering will too. Cause it's a proofing job.

MUAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I control the horizontal, I control the vertical.

Now to toddle off and get rejected.
