Okay, Doom!Karma got invoked anyway, so what the hell, right? I didn't get the job that I applied for here, in the department that I want to work in (and, coincidentally, the department that has been saying since November that they want to hire me) because they "decided not to hire it" right now.
WTF does that mean?
I'm going with "they're lying when they say they were impressed with my application." I suppose it could mean they didn't have enough qualified people or something, but I'm not feeling like that's really particularly true. Maybe it was money, but again, I don't think that would be true either.
On the bright side, I just bought an entire computer (elderly) for $25.00. Since what I need is a monitor that will run on my Performa, the rest of the computer is lagniappe, but I'm trying to increase my white trash street cred by having as many partially-working computers as possible.
I suppose I'll find out tonight if I've even got a job come May 1. And then I can either tear my hair out or buy plane tickets, I suppose.
Dammit, now I need to get a second job so that I can afford things. Like student loans when they come up. Borders, here I come.
