nyghtshade, florahart, orionnoire, nothing, really - I am totally ordering Equus today. And I think I will also order Shopping and Fucking.
Because this is my deep dark secret: I don't seek out or particularly like plays (I barely like movies, and I can pretty much guarantee that either something's going to blow up soon or someone's going to get naked soon in the movies I see, although Amazing Grace wasn't really either but it WAS good and as soon as I figure out how to say the star's name I'll talk about it more). It's like five hours of eye surgery in terms of sheer enjoyment, and there always, no matter how much I want to see it, comes the moment that I start flicking on my phone trying to figure out what time it is and how much longer the eye surgery is going to last.
But I do like scripts. Also, I am totally on a quest with Shopping and Fucking - namely, did I just see a bad performance, or is it a bad play?
The ending is...well. Given what I like to write in terms of sexual weirdness, even I think the ending is weird. And I really, really want to know if it could EVER be staged well.
