So we all know that the right wing has been spouting a lot of claptrap about the concept of a culture war - which makes me want to gag for the sheer misinformation implied in that use of the word "culture" - and they've possibly taken the first steps in that war.

Bear in mind, the only place I can find this is Daily Kos, and it was linked from there but [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess, but I'm not surprised that it's not turning up yet on Yahoo.

"For those that thought that there has not been a full scale war lanched against liberals; for those who didn't take the radical right's promise to "eradicate liberals" seriously, I present to you, Exhibit A: East Waynesville Baptist Church has just kicked out all its Democratic members.

Yes. You read that right. If you didn't vote for Bush, you had to "repent your sin". And finally, they figured why deal with the liberal sinners at all."

This is going to be Exhibit A when I get around to writing what I just realised - Bin Laden has won.

Exhibit B will be the Real ID thing that [livejournal.com profile] nematoddity posted. C is the law against low-rider jeans. D is that Ohio law that restricts teachers from sharing their own opinions while students can say what they like. E is the Texas bill against raunchy cheerleading moves - because that's what gets the girls pregnant, it turns out. I didn't know that.

Oh yeah, F is those idiots who are trying to destroy the environment and promote a war in the Middle East because that will bring about the Rapture.

If that doesn't make you sick, I don't know what would. All I can say is that if I were Canada, I'd be considering surgical nuclear strikes when the stupid explodes.

Let's just say that we're looking into places to live that are FAR away from the border.

...like New Zealand.

Re: Christian Values at Work. Oi vey.

Bear in mind, of course, that they already have scriptural justification to come after you, then.

Grah. I don't mind religion so much, but I mind most of the proponents of it.

No no no! That's a mistranslation! (Much like the Mary as *virgin* thing. Aramaic has no distinction between "young, unmarried woman" and "young, un-deflowered woman".) It should read "Thou shall not suffer a *poisoner* to live." Not witches at all! But the inquisition needed propaganda... sigh. But the bits about pagan temples and false idolotry... yeah, guilty as charged ;)
