a white chocolate hot chocolate
a peanut butter milkshake
a new cd or five
a new book or five
to go to a movie
a tank of gas
lunch at an actual omg restaurant
to buy some birthday gifts
to go garage saling
to rent a movie
to buy a movie
ice cream
the perfect item of clothing that makes my life perfect
one of those cheeseballs with nuts on
a lube/oil/filter for my car

However, though I have the money for probably all of these things at once, with some practicality in the matter (used cds/movies, cheaper books, not shopping at Hot Topic) I can't have any of them.

Why?

Because my debit card number (not other information, just the number) got stolen in June. I was notified on the 23rd that they would autosend me a new card and PIN. They were going to shut the cards down ten days past the date of notification, but kept them open until the fifth.

Do I have a new card yet? No. Who takes checks? Certainly not the gas station, nor the espresso stand. At LEAST.

*sighs* Off to do laundry so I have actual clothes, then off to the bank. SO I CAN HAVE GAS FOR MY CAR.

I fucking hate hackers. Bitches.

WTF? Why didn't they close the cards they SECOND you notified them? What sort of cretin bankers do you have over there?

I got a call from my bank, saying they had some dodgy TXNs, and then just asked me which purchases I had made - they were happy to take me at my word on that!

I didn't notify them. They were notified by some company (Card-Away?) that processes payment that C-A's database had been hacked and my number stolen. They were MORE than willing to work with me on ensuring that there were no dodge transactions, but this was one of thousands of numbers stolen at the time.

And they really can't do much except take you at your word - though if you make a shitload of purchases, then claim your card was stolen so you don't have to pay for them, they'll start looking. I trust nothing was wrong?

Christ - I am glad I don't work in finance. My web application for work is so full of holes it's like a sieve.

The fuckers took over a grand off my card. It was (un)fortunate that the a/c had so much money in - normally, tey would have gotten about 300/400 out.

For about 4 days I could not get ANY money out, and thus could not leave the house! I have now gotten me a second plastic card to cope with that situation...

Oh, yes, they paid back every groat. No quibbling. I was impressed, tbh. Co-op Bank.

Yours all sorted now?
