I forgot to mention that I made a new year's resolution (which normally I don't, since, hey, I'm already perfect.)

I will answer the phone whenever I am not actively engaged in something that prevents that. I will not only answer the phone when I know who is calling. I will respond to voice mails the same day, and work emails the same day, and try to turn around personal emails within a week.

It's either that or Prozac.

So in preparation for posting about moose yesterday, I looked them up in Wikipedia and found out an interesting fact: what we call a moose is the same species that, in Europe, is an elk. There ARE elk in North America, but they're a difference species than European elk (obviously), and since I'm pretty sure that moose/elk are the largest ungulates going, the NA elk would be somewhat smaller.

In fact, the American elk is 500-700 pounds and between 4.5 and 5 feet tall at the shoulder (compared to the weight of a moose previously mentioned and a height of (for the males) 6'2" at the shoulder). But they're the second-largest species of ungulant in the world, after moose.

What I know about elk is that my brother's 65 pound Airedale mix killed one once.

Never let it be said that Hobbes is not tough.
