Dear God -

If you give me a sane world that actually makes sense, I will go to the church of your choice every day, and never ask for another birthday present again and do at least 12 hours of community service a week.

I don't. fucking. believe this.

Have you applied to emigrate to the UK yet?

From: [identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com

Not yet. I tell you, I wish I didn't like my job so much. I'd be gone.

Why do I feel like a Jew in Germany, circa 1938?

Well, I can tell you this right now: My friend Mary is 81 years old, and she was born and raised in Vienna, Austria. She said that there are SO MANY parallels between what's going on in the US right now, and what happened back in the late 30's, that she's terrified for those who live there. She cited at least 20 exact parallels, and several other similarities. Get out, hon. Get out while you can. PLEASE.

That is fucking insane

I thought the bill to make wearing your pants so low that people can see your underwear illegal was bad...

Hasn't America had enough of making a fool of itself?

On a more realistic note; surely it will never be passed into law?

Re: That is fucking insane

I'd hope not. But if you think I trust Americans to make the sane choice, you're wrong.

And how exactly do they intend to "enforce" such a law? Send pregnant mothers to jail? And what about the "illegally created" children? Problem is, if there's a place where this law could pass, it's in the US. No offense meant.

It must be our pioneering spirit showing through. Or perhaps that's just the top of a jeweled thong...

Yeah, well, I feel like I'm wearing a barbed wire one three sizes too small when I read shit like this.

None taken. It's true.

I don't...it just even makes my head hurt to think about.

*headdesk*

Makes me wonder what they'll do with pregnant women whose husbands die before the child(ren) is/are born ... throw them into the gutter?

From: [identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com

Deport them to another state. Or country. They're probably all commie pinkos who treehug and save the whales anyway.

From: [identity profile] channonyarrow.livejournal.com

God I hated that book - and for exactly this reason! Genetic messing-about should not be the subject of the laws of the state like this!

But I think I only get freedom of choice at the drive through any more.

Re: Fries with that?

Hey, I worked in fast food - I know what sort of choice you get with that. Do you want cheese on your burger? Do you want fries, seasoned curly fries, or onion rings? Do you want a drink or a shake? Just because all they ask is whether you want that jumbo sized or not doesn't mean it's all you can get.

Now if only I could make that parallel work for the government - though I'm sure I can. All you are offered is crap, but you can get MORE crap if you'd like!
