I will not schedule my flight out to Philcon in such a way that I catch the Cobra Starship show in Pittsburgh, then fly or train or...something to Philly the next day.
Seriously, I'm not doing this.
I am also not scheduling in such a way as to catch the TAI... show in Buffalo on the 23rd. Really. I am not doing this, no matter how much I want to.
...who am I kidding. I'm totally gonna price flying into Pittsburgh. But I think NY is a bit much.
ALSO: Dear iTunes, seriously, plz to not play the songs by the group I am discussing when you are on random. You're sort of scaring me. As you usually do, to be honest.
ALSO ALSO: What the hell, have a link. This has gone from "unplayed" to "24 plays" in, like, two days. I listen to it on repeat.
It is not The Academy Is..., nor is is Cobra Starship. It is Jack Shit, from Rogue's Gallery: Boney Was A Warrior.
SAD STATISTIC: According to iTunes, which is wrong for a whole host of reasons, not least of all that I had two iPods and lost one, and also because Senuti can fuck up your play counts, this is the second-most-played song I have that is not MCR, TAI..., CS, Kill Hannah, or FOB. (Technically it is also behind Caleb Meyer, but it and Boney have the same number of plays, so that's only by virtue of alphabetic order.) The most played non-scene music I have is Darde Eshgh, by O-Hum. 52 plays on that one.
Most played? (Again, with the caveat that this statistic is so wildly wrong I can't even discuss it.) Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Both Of Us, 151 plays. SCARY.
I have about 2000 songs that show no plays on this computer. I'm going through those. Because I LIKE MAKING UP NUMBERS.
I also like "This Is Ivy League", which surprises me.
Edit to the Edit: I have just determined that it is not the Pittsburgh show I want to go to, it's the Sayreville show, which I think might have an unexpected outbreak of TAI.... I am going to be buying my ticket at the last minute again and it will cost a bajillion dollars. I hate myself.

If I decide to do this, I have picked out a flight that will, possibly, get me to PA in time for everything to go straight to shit. But it does make most of my email boil down to "are you free Friday, and can I get from point A to point B because the train tracks exist?" And, hell, I don't think you like them (even assuming you've heard them) but if I do book for the CS show, do you wanna come along? Plz note, I am an enormous and enormously scary geek about music. This may be a big no in your book.

Yes, PATCO, R1, and the MFL/Blue Line (which I live on) all exist. PATCO doesn't have any track problems, the MFL doesn't provided you stay east of 30th, and the SEPTA R1 schedules are reliable.
Far as Cobra Starship goes, I'm familiar with them, but probably not enough to pay for a concert ticket. Also, I'm going to see Ingrid Michaelson that Sunday, so I don't want to overload :P

NJ Transitwise, you're going to be on the Coast Line, which means going back up to Rahway and changing to get on the line to Trenton. I think you can pick up SEPTA to Philadelphia from there, although I've never taken the train from Princeton Junction to Philadelphia. It sounds like you have reliable advice on that end already.
The NJ suburbs are NOT walk-friendly. If you don't have a car, you will have to call for a cab and wait for it to get you, and pay for the privilege. Keep that in mind as you plan your trip.

Good to know about the actual distance - mapquest lists it as slightly less than an hour and a half, but honestly, I've never - dude, I don't even know if that IS a turnpike. And I do remember, again from Newark, that it was badly congested on small roads. At this point, when I do this (because I totally will, I'm not even gonna front any more) I'm thinking land around 2 pm EDT, and get IMMEDIATELY to the rental place, and on the road. Probably this is overkill, since there are four bands on the bill and I only want to see the headliners, but I don't want to be driving in unfamiliar ways after dark and in rush hour. And I understand there's something really, really weird about trying to make left turns in Jersey?
I was figuring on doing all that to get to Sayreville, then staying in Sayreville that night and driving back to Philly the next day to meet
Thanks for the tips!

I can't tell you what the drive time for Newark to Sayreville is, but I'd guess 90 minutes off the top of my head. Newark is a zoo, to the point where we decided we'd rather fly out of Philly.
Timewise, I have no idea what the situation for driving is like in Sayreville proper or on the way to 95 from Sayreville, so 2 hours may be a bit long. Still, I'd rather overestimate.
