Sometimes, when you put someone up on a pedestal, they like to prove that they really, really do not belong there.

Someday, I will not regard this as an invitation to attack. Today, however, is not that day.

Go check Beckett's latest blog entry. Unfortunately, I don't think there will be too many rage-induced shenanigans because there is no possibility he actually reads all the comments, let alone replies to them, but OH MY GOD I WANT TO SLAP HIM STUPID.

Wait, no, the stupid part has been achieved. BY HIM.

I post as Via Fabula there. I'm probably like comment 120 or something.

Oh, that commercial. Ugh. I mean, the commercial is somewhat amusing, I see what they were trying to do there. However! The way to my heart does not lie through stones bought at the expense of others lives, thanks much. For example, this year for Christmas my boyfriend is getting me a 500G external hard drive. And I'm getting him an iPod interface for his car. Not so romantic in the traditional sense, no, but these are things we actually want, need, and have asked for, not just too expensive symbols that our society insists embody the meaning of love.

Bill Beckett can shove it. I love that kid, but he can shove it.

The bit that pissed me off was the one about how "all" women just want diamonds. REALLY? I NEVER want a diamond, or any other precious stones; I don't LIKE them, and I feel that someone giving them to me is just someone who doesn't sufficiently know who the hell I am and should not be giving me gifts.

And the commercial...oh god, I am NOT the sort of woman to just leave some guy in the doghouse for forever (and I might do it! At any moment! Probably when I'm having my period! Because I am a woman! Which means I am UNPREDICTABLE!) and saying that we "all" do this is just...yeah, it's so fucking offensive.

Total agreement on the shove-it bit. JESUS.
