1 - RAB has got to be Regulus Black. That would explain his death a bit better than the idea that he blundered in and then wanted out of the Death Eaters - and I will persist in believing that it's cover-your-ass-fu if it is, but I'm predisposed to believe that anyway.

2 - Both Snape and Voldemort have used Harry as a Horcrux. Voldemort is obvious - arguably the last relic of Gryffindor's that he could get his hands on. Snape - I think he did it possibly as late as the Sorting Feast when Harry's scar hurt. I'm quite sure that Rowling will, if she chooses to revisit that, state that either Snape was using Legilimency or else Voldemort was on Snape, but iirc, Harry's scar hurts when he makes eye contact with Snape, not when Quirrell looks at him, especially since Quirrell had run into him at the Leaky Cauldron and there was no problem.

I think Snape did that because he knew that Voldie might decide to kill him at any time - but Voldie wasn't going to kill Harry any time soon because he'd made Harry into his Horcrux. If he did kill Harry, in Snape's presence, Snape would be able to kill Voldie without risk because Voldie would be entirely human again. But in the mean time, it's the safest place for Snape to hide his own soul. That's pretty, um, cyafu of Rowling, but it does explain why Voldie's been so unable to kill Harry - despite giving all appearances to the attempt. The love thing - I stopped buying that a while back.

And a bonus question - if Malfoy really did have the Dark Mark, how did no one detect it. DARK Mark, DARK magic, Secrecy Sensor that detects DARK magic. Of course, I have to reread the bit about the opal necklace again to find out how Malfoy thought that it would get past Filch and the sensor, so that might explain it. But - right now, I'm calling inconsistency.

Also, she totally made Crabbe/Goyle canon. *snerks*

I think Voldie made Harry a Horcrux accidentally, with the whole baby attack thing. It would explain a lot, if Voldie had left a bit of his soul behind in Harry... Snape, I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

Yah, if Malfoy had the Dark Mark, surely at least the other Slytherin kids would have seen it in the shower? They might well not have told, of course... but yah, wouldn't Filch have detected it? Yeesh.

Ah well... just have to wait for book 7 now. :P

Apperating House Elves

I was highly disturbed b the apperating house elves. If it's impossible for anyone to apperate inside Hogwarts, without special dispensation, then why can the house elves do it? Furthermore, if the house elves CAN do it, why couldn't they be used for nefarious purposes like killing Harry? I'm not entirely convinced Dumbledore's dead especially after his speech to Draco about faking his death. Could DD be faking his death? Could Sirius be faking? On the other hand, it'd cheapen things to bring either of them back. Well, I'll stop now, but I just thought I'd toss in my two cents.

P.S. Hi channonyarrow.

Well, if Harry is Voldemort's horcrux, this fits in perfectly well with the prophecy as, by destroying Harry, if Harry is the last horcrux, then Voldemort effectively defeats himself as well, doesn't he? But I don't think it'll be Snape somehow.. I think Snape might come back as a good guy in the end because she spent way too much time building him up as an ambiguous figure to just drop it now. And I simply don't think that Rowling is that clever nor is her intended audience- she is, after all, writing for 14 year olds here, no matter how much Potter gamers would like to forget that.

And as far as Malfoy being Marked, I bet she'll screw up on that, say he's been marked since this book but whip out some new spell or plot device to explain why no one noticed, a la Thestrals.

Crabbe/Goyle? Awwwwwwww yeah. I got your Crabbe love right here.

I agree with the RAB point. Not sure about Snape, never went that direction myself. I'll have to think on it.

And I sooo love Blaise :)
